On today’s episode of Across the Horizon, Bob Holmes of SUSS dedicates the episode to one of his favorite labels, Centripetal Force Records. Home to many of the artists heard on the podcast and radio show, Centripetal has one of the largest rosters of artists performing experimental, ambient, and instrumental music with an Americana bent. The episode features music by and interviews with artists including Michael Hix (of the Nashville Ambient Ensemble), Tacoma Park, Prairiewolf, Kevin Coleman, Johnny Bell, and label owner Mike Mannix. Each of the guests chose one of their favorite Centripetal Force artists to play and discuss.
For Flow State, we’re listening to a couple recent Centripetal Force records. First up is Zone Poems by Prairiewolf, a band we featured and interviewed back in 2024. The new album places their psychedelic guitar and synth pieces over laidback drum machines. We’re also listening to Baltimore by Tacoma Park, a wide-ranging instrumental record from April with elements of shoegaze, indie rock, ambient, and kosmische.
