Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Sam Gendel, a multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Los Angeles. We first featured him back in April 2021. Since 2017 Gendel has released over a dozen albums, including many collaborations with artists such as bassist Sam Wilkes and guitarist Shin Sasakubo. blueblue, from October 2022, was recorded “in a makeshift studio built in a cabin floating atop a tributary of Oregon’s Columbia River” per Bandcamp. It’s a freeform and languid collaboration with percussionist Craig Weinrib. We’re also playing Music for Saxofone & Bass Guitar from 2018, which is one of two collaborations with Sam Wilkes.

Have a great Wednesday.
Gradually floating my way through the BlueBlue recommendation, it’s foreign yet familiar enough that you’re both engaged and at ease 👌🏿
For someone who's only known of Gendel from bands like Knower and ClownCore, this was a really cool discovery. Thanks!
