Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Miles Davis, an American trumpeter and composer from Illinois. We first recommended him in 2021. After dropping out of Juilliard in 1945, Davis joined his hero Charlie Parker’s quintet and began playing the “cool jazz” that defined his sound through the ‘40s and ‘50s. He reinvented himself across the subsequent decades. In the early ‘70s he incorporated funk, rock, and electronic styles into his music. In 1975 he embarked on a tour of Japan, playing 14 shows while sickly and self-medicating. One day’s double header was captured and released as Agharta, an experimental, polarizing, and ultimately exhilarating album.

Have a really nice Thursday.
I am a great admirer of his music. A lot of it is great to listen to when you want to contemplate.
