Miguel Atwood-Ferguson
Good morning. The new Flow State five-year anniversary tee, which lists all the artists featured to date, is available here and selling out in certain sizes.
Today we’re listening to Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, an American composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, his hometown. He began violin study at age 4, and his early influences were classical (Bach, Beethoven, Chopin) and rock (The Beatles, Hendrix, Elvis).1 He’s recorded with many artists and only last month released his debut LP, Les Jardins Mystiques Vol. 1, on Brainfeeder. It’s 3.5 hours long, and as Passion of the Weiss reported, the album was recorded over 10 years and features over 50 musicians, including Carlos Niño, DOMi and JD Beck, Jeff Parker, and Austin Peralta. This isn’t an album, it’s a musical universe.
