It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Djrum, an English electronic musician and DJ. It’s pronounced “drum.” We recommended Djrum’s album Under Tangled Silence last year, which ended up landing on our best of 2025 list. Djrum is a talented producer but he’s an even more talented DJ. His all-vinyl sets are marathons of eclecticism, of which there are several examples on YouTube, the standout being the Tower Bridge show he did with Fabric in 2021. Last week he released a DJ-Kicks record, which he recorded on vinyl and then lightly edited and overdubbed. The 82-minute journey is all over the place, “from orchestral breakcore to field recordings, and from spaced-out jungle to the nastiest bass rumblings,” as Ben Cardew wrote in Pitchfork. We’re also giving Under Tangled Silence another listen afterward.
