Adam Pacione
Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Adam Pacione, an ambient musician based in Fort Worth, TX. Born in 1971 in Detroit, he started making experimental music in the ‘90s using a Yamaha synth and a Quadraverb effects unit.1 He’s been labeled a “fixture in the upper echelon of ambient drone,”2 but while his music lingers on certain phrases as William Basinski’s does, its warmth and lifelikeness defy the stolid connotations of the “drone” label. We’re playing his excellent 2007 record, From Stills to Motion, which demonstrates this style beautifully. We’re also playing his 2021 record, Any Way, Shape or Form, a four-plus hour compilation of longform ambient works.
