Good morning.
Today we’re listening to sunn O))), a metal band formed in Seattle in 1998. The band is named after the logo of the Sunn amplifier brand (see below). They specialize in “minimal metal at maximum volume,” as Stereogum put it. Influenced by Black Sabbath, Miles Davis, and Earth, core members Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson make heavy drone music with Travis Bean guitars and Rat distortion pedals.1 We’re playing two of their more ambient records, Pyroclasts and Life Metal, which are both from 2019. Let us know what you think of this and future recs using the feedback buttons below – we read every response.

Can serve as background music/work if volume down, whereas might be good 'meditation' / immersion music with volume up. Reminds me of bands like Growing or Paik. Resonant. Also keeping volume low out of consideration for people above me who may not love their floors resonating
I love this pick! Just saw Sunn O))) live at Thalia Hall in Chicago. Loudest show of my life! Also, so much fog that they set off the fire alarm four times. Love the exploration of some doom metal here. Thanks!
