Today we’re listening to Sachi Kobayashi, a Japanese electronic producer born and raised in Tokyo. We first recommended her music back in 2021, and we were reminded to revisit her by

In 2020 Kobayashi started making ambient music using Ableton, and has since produced four LPs that achieve what this newsletter is always in search of: an atmosphere of profundity. Her 2020 debut LP, More Than Just a Dream, is a standout record, with its drifting, scintillating synth chords. Of the subsequent three LPs we’re playing Melodies in the Garden from 2023. “I tried to make music with elements of nature such as flowers, leaves, water, and sunlight,” she wrote on the album’s Bandcamp page. “I hope you can feel these things while listening to the music.”
