Roman Flügel
Good morning.
It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Roman Flügel, a German electronic music producer and DJ. He grew up in Darmstadt, a town near Frankfurt, and played piano and drums as a kid.1 In the late ‘80s he heard acid house and techno music and start making it himself, becoming a fixture in the club scenes of Frankfurt and later Berlin. We’re playing two of his LPs: Themes from 2018 and Balmy Evening from 2022. Both records are series of synth compositions that are, for the most part, designed more for headphone listening than dancefloor consumption.
