Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Poranguí, a Brazilian-Chicano artist and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Brazil, he attended high school in Arizona and growing up studied music across Brazilian, Mexican, and Native Southwestern cultures.1 He plays an incredible range of instruments, from pandeiro to flute to didgeridoo to charango. On Ayahuasca, an original score to the 2016 documentary of the same name, Poranguí plays a collection of native instruments against a backdrop of Amazon rainforest field recordings. “Iluminar” is the standout track in our opinion. We’re also playing Kuya Sessions: Cura from 2021, a collaboration with producer Liquid Bloom, which is a guided instrumental triptych featuring similar sounds as Ayahuasca.

Love Porangui! I did his Music is Medicine retreat in 2020 in Kona, Hawaii and it was one of the greatest experiences of my entire life!
Excellent, thank you!
