It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Pizza Hotline, an electronic music producer based in London. Guy does “liquid” DnB tunes with mad video game influences innit. In other words, the “gentle breakbeats and soft-focus, future-retro melodies are deeply mesmerizing,” to quote Shawn Reynaldo. We’re playing Pizza Hotline’s N64 lobby music album Level Select (2023 Edition), which plays aquatic, almost vaporwave synths over tried-and-true jungle beats. We’re also playing Delivery Boy 2099, from early 2023, which emulates the Blade Runner 2049 cyberpunk aesthetic and skews downtempo.
