Good morning.
It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Jlin, an electronic music producer from Gary, Indiana. Since 2015 she’s put out complex footwork music, listing employment in a steel factory and interest in mathematics as influences.1 She adheres to the genre’s 160BPM tempo and takes drum and sample orchestration to another level of intricacy. Her latest record, Akoma, which came out in March, is a culmination of her fast-paced compositional style and features Bjork, Philip Glass, and Kronos Quartet.
