Today we’re listening to Duffy x Uhlmann, the duo of guitarists Meg Duffy and Gregory Uhlmann. Duffy, whose solo project is Hand Habits, linked with Uhlmann while the two were performing with Perfume Genius.1 Duffy x Uhlmann is a decidedly improvisatory project, two guitars and some effects pedals in a room. Their first LP, Doubles, was all one-takes without any overdubs, a bare sound that captures the conversation between their instruments. Their new LP, Hot Creek, takes a similar approach, with stranger manipulations of the guitar sounds and occasional field recordings.

Have a great Thursday.

This is delightful. Don't hate me, but 'Doubled' draws my mind to 'kids' music'. It bubbles playfully along. I do not mean it as an insult; in fact, I am all for bubbles and butterflies in music. It wears a goofy smile, and I smile with it. It welcomes you into a playhouse that also has a quiet room for those retreating from sensory overload.
