Beta Librae
Good morning.
It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Beta Librae, an electronic music producer and DJ originally from Kansas and now based in Brooklyn. Since the early 2010s she’s been making techno music that incorporates elements from various dance music subgenres, such as breakbeat and dubstep. Her music is “bounded on one extreme by the alien chill of ambient music; on the other lies the searing heat of a roiling dancefloor,” wrote Philip Sherburne in Pitchfork last year. We’re playing two of her records from 2018 which demonstrate this sonic spectrum: Sanguine Blood which runs a full hour, and Subspecies which runs half an hour. She also has several great sets on YouTube including for Boiler Room and The Lot Radio.
