Good morning. Today we’re listening to Bernard Herrmann, an American composer and conductor from New York City. He studied at New York University and Juilliard, and joined CBS as a staff conductor, where he met and began collaborating with a young Orson Welles.
What was truly amazing was how many of the images are imbedded in my memory. Perhaps because my career was in visual art after music. Images evoked by sound tracks. Chased by a plane and strolling on an avenue while I made stew.
Heavy Herrmann fan here! If you want to go a little deeper, check out his score for The Ghost and Mrs. Muir - he carries almost the entire emotional weight of the film.
Bernard Herrmann
As good as it gets.

Thank you for this week.
Taxi Driver is exceptional also.
