Good morning. We’re off next week and the new Flow State T-shirts are available here – they make great gifts 😉
Today we’re listening to the Beastie Boys, a hip-hop trio from New York City. In 1981, the band The Young Aborigines morphed into the Beastie Boys, who were originally a punk band.1 The group went on to be one of the most chart-topping and best-selling hip-hop groups of all time. In 1996 they released an instrumental compilation, The In Sound From Way Out!, which DJ Chroma brought back to our attention earlier this year. We’re playing that record as well as Paul’s Boutique from 1989, which pioneered the use of sampling to construct an entire album.

Have a really good Thursday.
Yay! How great to see the Beastie Boys here. Thank you. Jo 🌟
Wikipedia is close but not quite...the Young Abs (never a punk band) and Beastie Boys (at first a punk band) coexisted for a while...and I should know as I was that "replaced" bassist, LOL. I also had the privilege of shooting the cover of Paul's Boutique...
