Good morning.

Today we’re listening to Ami Dang, a Punjabi-American sitarist, composer, and vocalist from Baltimore. At age 12, Dang started playing sitar, with a focus on North Indian classical music.

1
Around 18, she began producing digital music and went on to study music technology and composition at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
2
We’re first playing her 2019 record, Parted Plains, a collection of nourishing instrumentals inspired by South Asian and Middle Eastern folktales.
3
We’re also playing Dang’s new album just out this past Friday, The Living World’s Demands, which blends her vocals with sitar and synth; don’t miss “Circuit.”

Parted Plains - Ami Dang (40m, no vocals)
Spotify / Apple Music / YouTube Music / Amazon Music / Bandcamp / Tidal

The Living World’s Demands - Ami Dang (40m, vocals on most tracks)
